Top Tips to help you look after your Radios

Don't Grab your radios by the antenna

Don't take the easy route - carrying radios by their antennas causes untold damage deep inside the radio - Beware!

Antenna faults cause loss of range and are simple to prevent - Always use the belt-clip or a protective case.

Top tips to Keep Your Batteries in Good Health

Battery maintenance - Simple facts to assist you in getting the best out of your batteries and prolonging their life.

  • When the batteries are new give them a full overnight conditioning charge to set them up.
  • Don’t leave batteries charging constantly.
  • Try to run them down fully once a week – it’s better to do this even if you need to have a complement of spare batteries.
  • Batteries will not charge properly if they are too cold or hot – room temperature is ideal.
  • Have them regularly conditioned or consider your own conditioner if you have a reasonable number.
  • Batteries should be treated as hazardous waste and must be disposed of properly – we offer a service for this.

Remember we have banks of Cadex analysers in our workshops which will analyse your batteries and in our experience 50% of these can be repaired and returned to a good useable state.
